Solution Focused Hypnotherapy

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy helps you make positive changes in your life, at a pace you are entirely comfortable with.  Think of it as subconscious life coaching - I don't tell you what to do; instead we break down existing barriers to help you come up with new possibilities, ideas and alternative ways of seeing things which your subconscious has resisted in the past (I'll explain why that is during our initial consultation).

We never focus on problems or analyse the past, as that tends to reinforce those old behaviours and negative feelings.  Instead I help you to focus on the solutions and work towards your own goals for mental & physical wellbeing, using a combination of psychotherapy (Solution Focused Brief Therapy) and Clinical Hypnosis.  This combination is extremely effective in helping you make long-term changes in your thinking, behaviour and physical responses to stress, and can help with almost anything in your life that you would like to improve. For a more comprehensive list of conditions please click here.

During a typical session we will discuss what you want to achieve and help you to envisage the future outcomes you want, helping your subconscious mind begin to find ways to help you achieve your goals.  We then use hypnosis to reinforce and deepen these positive changes whilst you simply relax and let it all sink in!

The aim is quite simply to train your mind to cope better with the present and future to bring you long-lasting benefits and great satisfaction.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is hypnosis like?

Very relaxing!  The hypnosis technique I use is simply a deep state of relaxation or 'trance', achieved using guided imagery and visualisation.  All you have to do is relax and listen as I make positive suggestions to help you towards your goals.

Being in a hypnotic trance is very much like a daydreaming state - the sort of feeling you get when you've been driving and can't remember the journey, or when you've been really absorbed in something.  You remain completely in control and aware throughout (if you choose, although some clients like to fall asleep!).

Will I lose control?

This is a common concern but - quite simply - no.  As a Clinical Hypnotherapist I will only work on the things we've agreed to work on together, for your benefit and at your pace.

Will it change who I am?

Once you've made up your mind you want to improve something in your life, hypnotherapy is a fantastic tool to help you change that unwanted behaviour or achieve that goal.  You might well notice additional benefits along the way, such as sleeping better, feeling more relaxed, confident and in control - but it will never fundamentally change who you are, it will just help you towards a happier, more relaxed and better version of yourself!
